"Diapers to Diamonds"

On a cool, crisp, October day.

A bright-eyed baby girl, Was sent my way.

A symbol of love between your father and I,

You brought joy to my heart and a tear to my eye.

I was as proud as a mother could be,

With a beautiful daughter for the whole world to see.

Even though your grandmother had her disbelief.

You were named in her honor, "Chatty Dora O’Keeffe".

From diapers to dresses with little ruffles all white,

We laughed, we played, we kissed good night.

It was crawling, then walking and talking too,

Before I knew it, you were off to school.

Learning to read and learning to write,

You worked so hard, with all your might.

Days turned to weeks, and weeks into years,

As I laughed when you laughed,

And we cried the same tears.

Into a young lady I watched as you grew,

My heart filled with pride by the things that you do.

A High School diploma, and now a college degree,

Plans for the future, and your own family.

As you exchange vows, and as you exchange rings.

I say to Trapper, these simple things.

"I entrust to you a part of my life,

My daughter, My friend, to become your wife.

Treat her with respect and give her your love,

And your life will be filled with miracles from above".

So, diapers to diamonds, and all things in between,

The things that we’ve done, and the things that we’ve seen

Set the course for tomorrow and all that it brings,

For you are my Eagle, you are my wings.

I love you Chatty, My daughter, My friend.

And yes my darling, I would do it all over again.

With all my Love "MOM"

The End
